L- The contents page uses two main images of both Noel and Liam Gallagher, although they are related and are on tour together, this suggests a rift between the pair. As well as this the headline ‘Oasis kicked off their world tour’, this is an incentive for the audience to read the article as it helps to create an interest by both the headline and a short snippet of information that also can entice the audience to read further, as well as this with it been the dominant focus of the page it indicated that the main article of the monthly magazine will be based on Oasis as they one of the biggest most successful indie bands around at that point in time. At the top of the page the mast head has the iconic NME magazine name which also acts as a logo, this shows that they are proud of there magazine. Next to the iconic NME name/ logo there is ‘This Week’, this is a more interesting way of saying the contents page. The bold large black serif writing attracts the attention of the viewer as well as the serif font appeals to a younger audience of people as it feels more fresh and modern in comparison to sand serif font. On the left hand side of the page there is the band index, this informs the viewers if there favourite bands are in this month’s issue as well as this is shows the verity of quality music that NME offer in there magazines. On the right hand side of the contents page is the contents list. The contents list is divided into sections such as news and reviews, this is an efficient and organised way to find the articles the reader desires with ease and simplicity. As well as this is fills out the page making it appear to have more content then it actually does. The colour scheme through out the contents page and used predominantly throughout more cover pages on NME magazine is red, black and white. This creates and iconic continuity with the colour scheme through out all NME magazines. The only acceptation to this colour scheme is used on the subscription advert. It uses a vibrant yellow font based on a black background, the yellow acts in contrast to the black making the advert stand out, and this draws attention to it and can encourage people to buy the magazine via a subscription.
I- NME was created by IPC media, they have a large verity of different magazines, the closest related magazine that IPC offer is UNCUT, UNCUT is a predominantly classic rock magazine where as NME is mainly indie and alternative music. Although NME has a more specific music selection it is widely received and loved and therefore has a large fan basis.
I- the magazine offers the latest in new up coming beds and artists for those who have a serious love for music new and old that fit into the specific genre that the magazine is based on, the band index is a good example of this as it both displays popular more widely known musicians of this genre and more obscure up and coming artists, again supporting the idea of new musical growth.
A- The audience for NME magazine is mainly young aged between 20-35, both male and female, however the colour scheme used is quite aggressive and masculine, as well as this some of the artist featured are more male orientated, however not all the artists are male oriented as they have had such artists as singer Lilly Allen. NME is mainly based on indie/ rock and alternative, however occasionally it does dip out of that genre to keep in line with the way music is growing and the direction it is taking.
R-the contents page represents the style of the magazine, as well as this to make it look professional it has a running colour scheme used through out the magazine, as a miss match of colours would make it look shoddy and un-professional, this would result in fewer magazines been sold because on first appearance the reader would get the impression that the appearance of the magazine reflected the quality of articles. The colour scheme and appearance of the magazine has to represent both the music genre as well as the audience they are trying to sell it too, the colour scheme of red and black represent the what genre is associated with which is rebellion anger and passion. However the serif font adds an element of youth to the style of the magazine which will appeal to the target audience.
