L- The layout of the page follows the traditional conventions of a contents pages, the text is set out in a columns on the left hand side of the contents page. The main image located in the centre of the contents page is a large picture of the band The Courteeners, this gives the reader an indication of what the main article in the magazine will be about, as well as that there is a quote that acts as an incentive for the reader to continue and purchase the magazine. There is a medium size thumbnail image of nick cave in the review section, it is part of the conventions of a music magazine to have one or more image on the contents page, this acts as a visual incentive and draws the viewers attention to that area of the contents page. The prominent and consistent colour scheme used through out Q magazine is red, white and black. The consistency of the colour scheme throughout the magazine adds a sense of professionalism to the contents page. The Q logo is located at the top right of the page, this shows consistency and that they are proud of there magazine, the Q is in a sans serif font and suggests maturity and sophistication.. Next to the Q logo there is the title Contents, the title Contents is in a white serif font on a black background, this creates a contrast and makes it legible and stand out easily. As well as this the sans serif font is more young audience. Along the left hands side of the contents column is a list of page numbers text to the article it is relevant too, this makes it easier for the readers to find the article they are looking for. I-this is a contents page from Q magazine; Q magazine is published by Bauer Media Group. It is a monthly UK magazine that mainly covers the music genre of rock/pop. Within the magazine you can expect to find things such as film reviews, new song realises, live concert reviews, band interviews and articles.
I-Q magazine offers a range of old music as well as, world wide well established bands and artists. The magazine offers articles, interviews and other things for music lovers of the pop/ Indie genre. Unlike NME it also features more mainstream artists such as Cheryl Coal and Lady GaGa. The magazine supports new music however predominantly features major artists as they attract a larger fan basis, this encourages the fans to buy there magazine. This means more people will buy there magazine.
R-The Contents page represents itself in a professional manner, the colour scheme runs throughout the magazine, this gives it a more orderly appearance. As well as this the contents pages colour scheme is more subtle then the likes of NME’S contents page. This helps to give a more mature appearance, only the headings are highlighted in red, this draws the readers attention to the specific section, there is not a lot of use of bold font. The font itself is serif. This again gives the impression that Q is targeted to an older audience; also the lack of bold font removes the impression of teenage rebellion and aggression that NME incorporates again an indication of the magazine been represented as more mature.
