L-The mast head is located at the top left of the page in line with the expected conventions followed by media magazines.  The Rollingstone mast head is in a san serif font. This gives it a more mature sophisticated feel. The rollingstone mast head is also a vibrant red with a black outline.  Red has connotations of anger, danger and passion, as rolling stone is a rock magazine it is fitting to have the colour red within the title; however rolling stone focuses on a broader spectrum of music, mainly well-established bands and artists. The black outline around the mast head helps to frame the font making it more legible as well as stand out off the page.  The main dominant feature of the front cover is the image of Lady Gaga.  Although the image is of Lady Gaga in a leather bra it is not necessarily seductive, instead it is made quirky by the lack of eyebrows that and she is also not making eye contact with the camera or pulling a seductive face. The background of the image is a light colour; this helps the black and red font scheme.  The contrast between the black and red against the black background helps the writing to stand off the page rather then blend into it, as well as this it makes it more legible and eye catching encouraging the reader to pick up the magazine. On the front of the magazine there a list of headlines in the left third. This is part of the conventions of a magazine and mine will follow the same layout. The main headline is located at the top of the left third and is in slightly larger font then the rest, this helps to show that it is the main article of the magazine by giving it dominance over the other font on the page. The main headline says ‘Monster Goddess a wild week with Lady Ga Ga’, the lady Ga Ga bit is in red font whereas the rest is in black, this highlights who the article is going to be about also with it been in larger font highlights the fact it is the main article and is related to the front cover image.
I-      Rolling stone magazine is a part of Wenner media. A magazine publisher Wenner Media. Rolling stone is its flagship publication that has been covering music and pop culture for more than four decades. The company also publishes men's lifestyle mag "Men's Journal" and entertainment title "US Weekly". In addition, Wenner Media operates Web sites for its magazines. All of this reflects the tastes of the man in charge - Chairman Jann Wenner, who started "Rolling Stone" in 1967.
I-The colour scheme used on the cover of rolling stone helps to give it a professional look as well as this it helps to tie the background image in with the text, although you want the font to stand out you don’t want them to look like two separate items. The mast head is coloured red; red has connotations of passion, anger and rebellion. We associate the colour red with rock as is a rebellious angry form of music however it could also be red as the magazine has a passion for music and it demonstrates it through the colour scheme. The image of lady gaga is somewhat edgy and rock as she is wearing a black leather bra, black eye makeup and red lipstick like that of a pin up girl, however despite that it is not the impression you get when you look at the image. The image gives the impression of quirkiness and looks somewhat alien. The red lipstick and the black eye makeup tie in with the colour scheme of the cover.
A-Rolling stone used to be a predominantly rock magazine however with a changing direction of music it has changed to a more pop culture based magazine. The artist on the cover is normally known worldwide and has a very large fan basis. Having a successful artist such as lady gaga on the front of your magazine attracts a huge fan basis and therefor more magazines will be sold over all. However with rolling stones having rock connections they aim to make the artist look a bit edgy in keeping with its house style.
R-the magazine is aimed at people interested in the pop gene. However its house style and the way it presents the artists is a more rocky and edgy in the way they style them, this is in keeping with their originally rock roots. The artists or bands of on the front of the cover are generally globally known and loved and therefore have a large fan basis, therefore they sell more magazines because of this as the fan basis is larger and many fans will buy the magazine just because it has their favourite artist on the cover.
